A day in the life of Job Barth: Director of Saxo Bank Netherlands

Meet Job Barth, the director Job Barthof the dutch branch of Saxo Bank. Saxo Bank is a Danish bank that focuses on stock market trading. It’s main source of revenue is derived from partnerships with institutional trading partners. Just like any other bank director, Mr Barth leads a very busy life.  However, there is something special about him. Job Barth is only 29 year’s old. That makes him the youngest bank director in The Netherlands.

So, what does a day in the life of Job Barth look like? He explains his daily schedule below.

The morning:

Get in around 8 AM check emails and work related voicemails. Go through the news world and local events and check up on overnight markets. Write small prep for quick floor meeting at 8:30 to discuss overnight, key figures that day and focus points. After watching NL market open listen in on Market Call (sales traders inform group of clients via webinar of current market circumstances). From 9:45 to noon process different reports and follow up on institutional prospects. If there is no organized lunch with clients or prospects will touch base with the team for a quick bite prior to having a similar schedule as in the morning. Watch US open and scroll through that days transactions looking for any irregularities.

The afternoon

Following NL close read through Saxo provided research and prepare for the following day. Create day-plan that looks comparable most days but will provide structure and rule out any surprise meetings/deadlines.

The evening

Once or twice a week I will have a dinner scheduled with a client/prospect or partner of the Bank otherwise I will leave the office sometime between 7 and 8 PM. Later that night try and log in from home to watch US close and scroll through transactions looking for any irregularities.
